Why Are MonsterKnobs™ The Toughest Shift Knob Anywhere?
MonsterKnobs™ shift knobs are cast from Crosslinked Aldehyde Resin (CAR™). This material is strong, durable, and looks great even after years of use. The secret to its toughness is simple: Once cured, the resin in the knob becomes one large molecule! Heat resistant to 300°F, MonsterKnobs™ stay cool in summer and warm in winter, under the most demanding conditions.
I Want A Heavy Shift Knob. How Heavy Are Yours?
Our knobs weigh approximately 105 to 112 grams ... or about 1/4 pound (4 oz.) as noted. They are a little heavier than many factory knobs, but are not designed or marketed as a heavy aftermarket knob. We do not agree with the current fad of having extremely heavy shift knobs that weigh a pound or more. We feel these are potentially dangerous and bad for transmissions, and we WILL NOT sell knobs this heavy. Extremely heavy knobs can possibly close the gap between the shifter rail and the gears, causing damage to the gears in much the same way as the bad habit some drivers have of resting their hands on the shift knobs constantly. When the gap closes, the transmission fluid can no longer lubricate these parts. Really heavy knobs also run the risk of bending shift forks by creating too much leverage when shifted agressively. Lastly, we feel that excessively heavy knobs can dampen out vibrations so well due to their mass, that the driver receives little useful information from the transmission. You can literally grind your gears to death and not even know it -- until it's too late.

What Makes MonsterKnobs™ The Right Fit for My Car?
MonsterKnobs™ are NOT "universal fit," because each shift knob is made to fit your car only. MonsterKnobs™ feature solid metal threads, manufactured right into the knob. There are NO set screws, NO adapters and NO glue. Just the right threads for your car, in solid metal, with a direct fit, screw-on installation.
How Deep Are The Threads?
Thread depth on our knobs is between 1 and 1-1/8 inches, depending on the vehicle. This puts the top of your shift lever very near the middle of the knob. We have found this provides the best appearance. It also maximizes knob strength, by ensuring near equal wall thickness in every direction.
Will My Shift Boot Reach Your Knob?
Our knobs have a thread depth of one inch minimum, as noted above. Therefore, the easy "driveway test" below will tell you if your shift boot is tall enough to reach our knobs. Remove your factory knob. Measure down one inch from the top of your shift lever. Mark this spot on the shift lever with something -- such as a rubber band, twist tie or piece of tape. Now, holding your foot on the brake, shift into each gear. Stop at each gear and manually pull your shift boot up to see if it easily reaches the mark on the shift lever. If so, your shift boot is tall enough to reach our knob.
Do You Offer These For Automatics?
Yes, we currently offer these for many gated automatic transmissions and B&M rachet shifter auto transmissions. Gated automatic transmissions we can fit include: Acura / Chrysler 300 / Dodge Charger & Magnum / Jaguar / Lexus / Mazda / Scion tC / Subaru and Toyota! We can develop knobs to fit any automatic that does not require a pushbutton to shift into gear. Contact us if you'd like us to consider developing a knob to fit your vehicle.

Why Are MonsterKnobs™ The Right Size for Most Drivers?
MonsterKnobs™ are a substantial, yet comfortable 2 inch diameter. Smaller shift knobs, like the old-style 1-3/4-inch shift knobs, can cause a sore spot in many drivers' palms. Mega-sized 2-1/4-inch shift knobs are too big for many drivers, and often limit your choice of shifting styles. We have found that 2 inches is perfect for most drivers and gives the most driving options.
Are MonsterKnobs™ The Biggest Shift Knobs Available?
No. MonsterKnobs™ shift knobs are 2 inches in diameter. There are larger knobs out there, but at a certain point, more "oversized" is not better. Think about it -- would you want a shift knob the size of a grapefruit? A bowling ball? Our testing has shown that 2 inches gives the custom oversized look and feel, while still being comfortable for most drivers, in most cars.
Do You Offer Shift Knobs In Other Shapes Besides Round?
No. MonsterKnobs™ shift knobs were developed from scratch to be the BEST shift knobs available. The shape was carefully considered. We did a lot of research regarding ergonomics, repetitive stress injuries, etc. We concluded that round was the best shape because it is the only shape that keeps the wrist in a neutral, unstressed position throughout the range of motion of the shift lever. While we certainly didn't invent the round shift knob, we don't believe in "reinventing the wheel," just in doing what's best. Wheels have to be round to work best, and it turns out that shift knobs do, too.
Do You Offer Any Colors Besides Black?
No. We designed these knobs around the black CAR™ material, because it is hard, durable, shiny and doesn’t transmit heat. Fortunately, this resin gives a beautiful shiny black finish that goes with any interior. Black is also the most popular shift knob color.

MonsterKnobs™ aren't just a shift knob; they're a complete shift knob system. That's because each shift knob comes with the hardware you need for a professional installation, PLUS complete written installation instructions and FREE e-mail support. Use of this FREE kit assures your shift knob will fit snug to your shifter, and your shift boot will fit snug to your shift knob. No more sagging shift boots! How Shiny Are Your Shift Knobs? How Is The Quality?
Our knobs are made of a material similar to that found in high-grade billard balls. They have a similar gloss and color to a brand-new 8 ball. Before shipping, each MonsterKnobs™ shift knob is test-fit, inspected and hand-polished using a proprietary three-step process that produces a deep gloss. This process is our secret. Some chemists will tell you that crosslinked resins like CAR™ are difficult to polish because they are impervious to most chemicals (such as the cleaning products you may use to detail your car). But our special process produces a brilliant shine that we believes far exceeds the cosmetic appearance of any competing product.
Are Your Knobs Just Made From Billiard Balls, Then?
No! Billiard balls are 2-1/4” inches in diameter; MonsterKnobs are 2 inches. Also, billard balls aren't designed to be shift knobs; they're designed to be billiard balls. MonsterKnobs™ shift knobs were designed from scratch to BE shift knobs. For instance, MonsterKnobs™ shift knobs are round, but they're not spherical. MonsterKnobs™ shift knobs have a flat surface on the bottom, which is designed to integrate with our FREE hardware kit for a snug shift knob and snug boot.
What Is Your Free Shipping Service?
MonsterKnobs™ are shipped FREE to the USA and Canada, using U.S. First Class Mail with Delivery Confirmation. The Post Office quotes delivery time as two to five mailing days, although it is usually much closer to two days than five. We ship from Michigan, and have had packages go to Alaska and Hawaii in just three days! They are also professionally packaged and labelled. They are shipped in protective packing to prevent scratching or marring in transit, and also come with complete installation instructions (as applicable) and free e-mail customer support.
